Conference Walking Round
At the end of the 2019 German Economists Conference (AEL), DENeB organized a walking tour through central Berlin. To experience hands-on where development economics research in Berlin takes place, the walking tour connected several of the institutes that are part of DENeB (the DIW Berlin, the Humboldt-University, and the ESMT). In addition, participants were able to get a glimpse of some famous Berlin sights and of Berlin’s rich art scene. Stations of the tour included the Gendarmenmarkt, Platz der Bücherverbrennung (square remembering the Nazi book burnings), the State Opera, the Museum Island, and the Old Synagogue. The evening concluded with a joint dinner.
