Call for Extended Abstracts for the PEGNet Conference 2016

Dear PEGNet Friends and Colleagues,


PEGNet and the Institute of Policy Analysis and Research, IPAR-Rwanda would like to invite you to submit your extended abstracts for the PEGNet Conference 2016. All topics that fall within the fields of development economics are welcome for consideration for a poster or oral presentation. 


Conference Theme:

The plenary sessions of the PEGNet Conference 2016 will centre on the theme: Regional integration for Africa’s economic transformation – Challenges and opportunities. More specifically, the keynote, the roundtable discussion and debate will discuss amongst others; whether regional integration should be regarded as a promising opportunity or dead end, the role of the private sector in promoting the competiveness of landlocked countries, as well as how new regional integration efforts such as the Tripartite Free Trade Agreements can address some of the existing challenges caused by overlapping integration areas.


The scientific parallel sessions are open for all topics within PEGNet’s general interest in poverty reduction, equity and growth. To contribute to this discussion, we are interested in high-quality papers and innovative projects that either contribute to the issues outlined by the conference theme or that seek to answer other questions within the field of development economics. Please email your extended abstracts to in a pdf or Word file and indicate ‘PEGNet Conference 2016’ in the subject heading. Abstracts should have more than 400 words but should not exceed three pages. Priority will be given to empirical research with clear implications for policy design and implementation.
